Green School Council
Cherhill’s Green Council
The Green Council meet at least twice a term to discuss issues and ideas to improve the school grounds and garden, promote recycling, sustainability and environmental issues. Two pupils from each class are democratically elected to the Green Council each year. The Council plans to come up with one new idea during each meeting to take back to their class to discuss. Larger issues can then be presented to the Headteacher to discuss new whole school initiatives. Council members seek the views of their classmates and these are brought back to council meetings. All children within the school know that they have a voice and that their views are listened to. This helps to develop their sense of community and responsibility.
