Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day.
We are a school of 202 fantastic children and 29 dedicated staff, set in the tranquil village of Cherhill, just outside Calne. As a Church of England (Voluntary Aided) school, our ethos is rooted in Christian values. We have close links with the local Church of St James. We have regular visits from ‘Our Friend’ Rev. Philip Bromiley, as well as members of the congregation. We also attend the Church for Services to mark special occasions in the Christian and academic calendar, for example Harvest, Christmas, Easter and Year 6 Leavers’ service.
We have an enthusiastic team of staff who endeavour to create a learning environment to engage and stimulate every child. To achieve this, we use our combined professional experience to plan and deliver creative and cross-curricular lessons.
In our latest Ofsted report (February 2010) and SIAMS report (April 2010), the children were quoted as being ‘polite, welcoming and very friendly. There are significant strengths in their spiritual, moral and social development.’ We encourage our children to be independent learners and take on roles of responsibility as they go through the school. Two members from each class sit on the Green School Council, which meets regularly to discuss school events and environmental matters, such as Children in Need day, Cherhill’s got Talent and recycling. Our Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl are chosen by staff for their outstanding attitude to learning and their respect for all staff and pupils.
