Welcome back to Term 1 2017
Welcome back to the first term of this academic year! I hope you have all had a wonderful summer holiday and are looking forward to a new year!
Please take the time to read our letter as it will let you know about key dates and information coming up during the school term.
This term our topic is called ‘Percy The Park Keeper.’ The topic will be based on the stories of Percy The Park Keeper and his friends the park animals. We will also be making many links with other subjects as well (Please see attached topic web). If you have books or artefacts related to our topic, we would love to hear from you. We would love any Percy themed toys or gardening equipment for our Percy hut role-play.
A show and Tell rota is displayed on the door leading outside of the classroom so please take a look to see your child’s assigned week. Please ensure your child leaves their special item in school for the whole week until they have shared it in class.
How is your learning power? Each term we focus on different skills to help us develop into life long learners. The Cherhill Building Learning Power tree has six coloured leaves representing 6 R’s. This term we will be focusing on ‘RESPECT’.
Home learning will start during the second week back on Monday 11th September. We encourage children to read daily at home. This can be your child’s school book, an e-book from Bug club or a book from home! Every time your child reads at home please make a note of it in their Reading Record book (Monkey book). Below is the timetable for home learning:
|Reading and words to learn||Reading||Reading and handwriting (due in on Friday)||Reading||Reading and Brain busters (due in on Monday)|
If you have any questions regarding your child’s learning, please pop in and speak to me. If your child does any other learning at home linked to our topic or about something else then please encourage them to bring it in and share with the class.
Across the school we use magical GEM powers to help us with our learning. When we use these powers we sparkle! Find out more about our Gem Powers here.
I look forward to seeing and hearing from you!
